Recommended Method

Use Data > From Text/CSV when you need control over delimiter, encoding and data interpretation. After importing, save as XLSX if you need Excel-specific features such as formulas, formatting, multiple worksheets or other workbook features.

Compatibility Notes

Microsoft Excel officially supports opening, importing, editing and exporting CSV files. CSV is a plain-text tabular format and does not preserve full Excel workbook features. When saving as CSV, only the active worksheet data is saved and unsupported workbook features are not retained. Review dates, numbers, leading zeros, delimiters and character encoding when data accuracy is important.
